My name is Diego Medel, I am a military veteran, a student and a leader. I am currently studying at Texas State University, where I intend to get my Bachelors of Science in Digital Media innovation. My main focus is in social media managment with a side of web design and content creation. I am a certified full stack web developer through UT Austins coding bootcamp, that I completed in 2022. I currently work as the social media manager forThe University Star, an independent student run news organisation in San Marcos Texas.
I have held many roles in my life to include 8+ years of customer service roles in the restaurant industry, experience as a certified EMT( Emergency medical technician) in the US Army, and Pathways Program Archeology intern with the USDA. The variety of work and life experience that I have has made me adaptable to any situation that may present itself. I enjoy facing the challenges that presents themselve when new and noval problems arise and have often been called a problem solver by my peers. I am fluent in Eniglish and hold an intermediate command of the Spanish language. I am open minded and have a passion for learning new things, I enjoy being put in positions where I have to learn on the fly and have found that I do best under pressure.
Outside of my professional life I have various hobbies that include content creation, music production, photography, exotic pet keeping and computer gaming. I currently run my own TikTok page focused on music production that has 1k+ followers. In the year 2023, I recieved over 20,000 streams on soundcloud for my instrumental hip hop beats. My experience with a camera goes back 10+ years, including still photography and video production and editing. I currently house 3 geckos, 2 poison dart frogs, 1 german shepherd, 1 Cockard Spaniel and a ghost shrimp aquarium.
