<Social media and the web

I have been glued to a computer since I was 7 years old. I grew up online and have watched the evolution of the internet and social networking unravel in real time.My earliest experience with the internet and the social aspect of it comes from the legendary AOL instant messanger. While AIM wasn't necessarily a social network I believe it played a pivotal role in the development of futrue social networks. The first "real" social network I found myself on was Myspace, where I learned rudimentary HTML to customize my page and embed music that would autoplay whenever someoen visited my profile.

This is where it all started for me, the door to expressing yourself digitally was opened and I would prop that door open as long as I could. Later down the line the momentum shifted to Facebook, where I can still view the cringe posts I made as a kid, Facebook didnt offer the same customization level that Myspace did but it quickly evolved and became a platform that outlasted its competitors. Nowadays its mainly for the older crowd, and has been replaced by platforms that center more around visual appeal like Instagram and TikTok for the younger generations. At the same time that Facebook was expanding I was introduced to a new format of Microblogging, from the legendary social network giant, Twitter. I spent a lot of time reading peoples seemingly uncensored thoughts on Twitter and sharing my own along side them. It was great while it lasted but has since devolved into a hub for misinformation and bigotry under the guise of "freedom of speech" thanks to the acquisiton of Twitter by Elon Musk.

Then came the age of short form video content that arose from Music.ly and Vine and has since exploded into Instagram reels, TikToks and has since been integrated into every platform imaginable in order to draw in users. This is my personal favorite era of Social Media because there is so much opportunity, especially with the high quality cameras we all carry in our pockets on the daily. And like all previous stages of social media I wanted to be involved so I started up my own Multiplatform channel recording myself making music on my drum machines to share with the internet and have since amassed over a thousands followers. Truthfully, I dont put in as much time as I should and havent posted in a while but, it is fun to do when the opportunity arises. I also oversee content creation for the University Stars social platforms with over 25,000 followers collectively on all platforms, and I intend to pursue a career in the emerging field of social media management.
